Diagnosed
with "Atypical Development with strong autistic
tendencies" Stephen Shore was viewed as "too
sick" to be treated on an outpatient basis
and recommended for institutionalization. Nonverbal
until four, and with much help from his parents,
teachers, and others, Stephen Shore is now completing
his doctoral degree in special education at Boston
University with a focus on helping people on the
autism spectrum develop their capacities to the
fullest extent possible.

Health Research Institute of Chicago and its clinical
arm, the Carl Pfeiffer Treatment Center. He worked
for 22 years as a research scientist/engineer, and
has authored more than 150 journal articles and
technical reports. A main area of interest has been
patterns of trace-metal imbalances in violent individuals,
and he is conducting research on crime prevention.
Dr. Walsh collaborated with Carl Pfeiffer, M.D.,
Ph.D., who spent many years researching biochemical
imbalances in psychotic populations. |
